Dark skies made the crowd of 1561 at Stadion Maguwoharjo Sleman a little nervous, but the rain held off. Cool had chosen a strategic 5-2-3 formation. Starters: Palm - Nahumaruri, Giachello, Tyc, Burkett, Talamano - Rössler, Berkien - Fuchs-Kubicek, Smolčić, Morales.

Cool seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. UNITED mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. UNITED's Jørn Melosi managed to lose the defenders as he came down the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 0 - 1. 9 minutes into the game, Cool had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to weak. 16 minutes into the game, Cool seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organization. An amazing free kick flew past the home side keeper 19 minutes into the match, putting UNITED ahead with the 0 - 2 goal. Şensoy Tapku was the scorer. After this, UNITED lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when Ivan Smolčić tried to sneak the ball past the keeper. Magnus Månsson was too alert for that! With 30 minutes played, UNITED's Dave Devos fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Dave Devos for diving. UNITED's Dave Devos received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 33 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 3 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by UNITED, with an impressive 68 percent possession of the ball.

Supporters hurled a torrent of abuse at the referee when questionable officiating after 64 minutes led to a free kick for Ivan Smolčić, who scored to make it 1 - 3.
